Approach

We believe that children learn through hands-on experiences and through having a happy, healthy, and fun environment in which to explore the world. Our program is grounded in the Reggio Emilia Method, which seeks to promote creativity and to allow children to initiate activities and make choices.

We feel that if we encourage children to experiment and to learn through play, they will develop and follow their individual interests, all while learning at their own pace. For this reason, we offer a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children to choose from, and provide a balance of free play, structured learning activities such as circle time, artistic projects, and indoor and outdoor free play. By allowing a child to develop at their own rate, we encourage them to form their own ideas and conclusions about the surrounding world. In so doing, they develop individuality, self-esteem, and a sense of self-sufficiency.

We emphasize the importance of social play. Staff members encourage and support children as they learn to interact and cooperate with their peers. Our program challenges children to demonstrate support, love, attention, and understanding for others.

Our philosophy is to treat each child as an individual and to see that all their needs are met through love, kindness, and positive communication. We believe in working in partnership with families to help children grow and to reach their full potential, whatever their learning needs. We accept and value each child as a unique individual and respect the diversity of backgrounds and strengths that each family brings. We foster an inclusive environment and have an open door communication policy.
